Matt Thomas and Josh McSwain of Parmalee joined RADIO.COM’s Mo & Styckman and told the duo about what was going through their minds when they found out their collaborator and friend Blanco Brown was involved in a serious car crash.
First things first, they wanted to share that Brown has “has been healing up great and getting back at it.” “We’ve been working on some projects so that’s some good news,” they added.
But getting that phone call was gut-wrenching. “That was the hardest couple days where I couldn’t get an answer. Once I found out he didn’t have any vital or head injuries I was a little relieved. It took some time, just a bunch of broken bones, but we were just thankful that he wasn’t in critical condition and it’s a miracle that he’s alive.”
“We’re just thankful that we’re sitting right here right at number one, Blanco’s getting better, and we’re about to get back on the road as soon as possible.”
Whenever that day comes that Parmalee is able to get back out on the road again, you bet that they’ll be psyched to perform “Just The Way” for their fans. “We miss everybody [and] the excitement behind the song rising up,” they said.
“Just The Way” recently earned Parmalee and Brown the number one spot on the Country music chart. You could hear the anticipation in their voices about playing the song in front of the audience. “You start seeing this be the biggest moment of the shows,” they said.
“You start seeing that level of excitement being the thing that we miss the most.”
Before they left, Parmalee shared a fantastic story about an incredible opportunity they had earlier in their career. Collaborating with the legendary Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx.
“Back in the day we were out in California working on recording some songs,” they recalled. “The guy that owned the studio had worked with Nikki before and somehow we weaseled our way into getting him to produce and write some songs with us.”
“He’s a cool dude, it was surreal meeting him.”
