Texans trade LB Benardrick McKinney to Dolphins for Shaq Lawson: reports

The Texans are trading inside linebacker Benardrick McKinney to the Miami Dolphins for outside linebacker Shaq Lawson, according to multiple media reports.

McKinney had been with the Texans since 2015, when he was drafted in the second round out of Mississippi State.

McKinney became a second-team All-Pro in 2016 and named to the Pro Bowl in 2018. Last season, McKInney had season-ending shoulder surgery and was limited to just four games.

McKinney is due $7 million in base salary for 2021.

Lawson had four sacks in 14 games last season, his only with the Dolphins. He spent four seasons with the Buffalo Bills.

Lawson is due a $7.9 million base salary in 2021 and $8.9 million in 2022.
