Alright, alright, alright. With Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium only open at 25 percent capacity, a measure made necessary by the ongoing spread of COVID (time has been a flat circle during the quarantine), UT will have plenty of empty bleachers when the Longhorns host conference-rival TCU this weekend.
So what does Texas plan on doing with all that space? For starters, the school is devoting an entire section to Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey, one of UT’s most prominent alums and a professor of practice at the Moody College of Communication. The collection of cutouts spans most of McConaughey’s career, including roles in Angels in the Outfield, The Beach Bum, Dallas Buyers Club, Dazed and Confused (“Just keep livin’, L-I-V-I-N”), Free State of Jones, Interstellar, Magic Mike (“I see a lot of lawbreakers”), True Detective, We Are Marshall, The Wedding Planner and The Wolf of Wall Street (“Those are rookie numbers”).
With McConaughey’s inspiration, ninth-ranked Texas will try to keep its undefeated record intact when the Horned Frogs visit Saturday at noon ET.
