When BTS dropped the music video for “Dynamite,” it quickly set the record for most views in a 24 hour period on YouTube with an astonishing 101.1 million views. The video opened with the K-pop superstars dressed in magnificent pastel-colored outfits.

BTS donated the outfits worn in the video to be auctioned off as part of MusiCares Charity Relief Auction benefiting the non-profit MusiCares. The organization provides “a safety net supporting the health and welfare of the music community” through financial, social, and medical support.

The MusiCares Charity Relief Auction was hosted by Julien’s Auctions as the pastel outfits worn by BTS were the top-selling item at the event.

The collection of outfits sold for a total of $162,500, more than eight times the amount they were expected to go for, according to a press release. The outfits were sold to two buyers, Japanese art collector Yusaku Maezawa and HIKAKIN, “Japan’s most famous YouTuber.”

BTS made the most of 2020 and the K-pop superstars were recognized as RADIO.COM’s Pop Artist of the Year.

From the record-shattering “Dynamite,” which was the first song they put out completely in English, to releasing multiple albums, and taking home numerous trophies and performing at multiple award shows, BTS certainly took a step forward.
