Tom Brady-themed memorabilia is continuing an apparent surge in demand, in the weeks after the legendary quarterback captured the seventh Super Bowl title in his decorated career.
A Brady rookie card has apparently fetched a record $2.25M at auction -- this only weeks after a separate version of the same Brady rookie card had set a new auction record when it sold for a "mere" $1.32M.
The two-time record-breaking trading card is a Championship Ticket Playoff Contenders from 2000, Brady's first year in the league. Both of the cards, of which there are said to be only 100 in existence, were autographed by Brady himself.
The listing for the pricey keepsake said it had been purchased by a private collector on eBay about a decade ago, and kept by them until it was auction.
The bidding started at $75,000, and 67 bids were placed before the winning offer of $2,252,854.80.
With the latest sale fetching nearly $1M more than the previous record, it sure seems like Brady's stock has never been higher.
The 43-year-old future Hall of Famer scarcely played in his debut campaign in Y2K, appearing in only one game. He took over for an injured Drew Bledsoe the next season, however, and the rest was history.
