The single off her 2019 album Hot Pink recently went viral thanks to a little thing called TikTok. So Doja, never one to deprive us of riveting entertainment, served us up a sexy scary visual that you most definitely want to check out, but first, we’re gonna break it down, hold up we’ll be right back.
4 minutes and 33 seconds later... Okay now that we got that out of our system, it’s time for the other kind of break down, y’know… where we talk about the music video and it’s various intricacies.
The Christian Breslauer directed visual starts off with Doja posing in a shop’s window display looking regal AF, and as the beat drops so do the clothes and lights leaving only the signature red filter (you know the one) with her dimly lit figure taking center stage.
Playing the character of distracted and enamored taxi driver is Kofi Siriboe, who seems to get himself caught in Doja’s web quite literally. But before that Doj and Siriboe get aquatinted in the very same window display where he set eyes on her for the first time, and at one point dances on top of a car hood while zombies rise from the concrete streets and shadows to watch her seductively sway. For an unexpected plot twist, Kofi’s among the bunch and now he’s rockin’ a grill.
After Siriboe is pulled into Doja’s literal web, she hits us with a different take of the Silhouette Challenge, this time involving a billboard, an NYC roof top and some Beyoncé level wind in the hair. Next she takes us into an apartment with a 60s vibe, which we find very fitting since the song samples Paul Anka’s 1959 track “Put Your Head On My Shoulder.” Upon closer inspection we realize this time Doja’s dude is a mannequin, and now we wanna watch Lars and The Real Girl, our bad… completely off topic.
Next thing we know, things are on fire including Doja and her mans made of plastic, but don’t worry, because as it turns out, it was all just dream. Okay break down complete, now go ahead and check out Doja’s “Streets” video for yourself, hit play below.
