During a recent conversation with BBC Radio 2, Dolly Parton revealed that while she was in London for work, she received the invitation from Kate Middleton for a spot of tea. However she was unable to make it and had to decline.

"This time, Lordy, I even got invited to have tea with Kate but I couldn't even go,” Dolly said of her most recent visit across the pond. "I thought it was very sweet and nice of her to invite me and one of these days I'm going to get to do that – that would be great.”

As for the reason why Dolly had to turn down the royal crown, Parton quipped, "she wasn't going to promote my Rock album so I had to say no.”

Parton also admitted that she wished she had more time to explore the city, for this particular trip she doesn’t have time to do so. “I love the people, the feel of London. I don’t unfortunately [get time to sightsee]. I have in the past, me and my band, in a tour bus when we have it planned,” she explained.

Dolly is set to release her first-ever Rock album, Rockstar, on November 17. The tracklist contains 30 tracks, with nine original songs and 21 covers of iconic rock songs with features from artists such as Miley Cyrus, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Sting, Elton John, Stevie Nicks and more.

“I’m so excited to finally present my first Rock and Roll album Rockstar!” Parton said in a statement. “I am very honored and privileged to have worked with some of the greatest iconic singers and musicians of all time and to be able to sing all the iconic songs throughout the album was a joy beyond measure. I hope everybody enjoys the album as much as I’ve enjoyed putting it together!”
