Playing Pam Bessly on “The Office” for nine seasons wound up getting Jenna Fischer fired from her next job.
Fischer opened up about losing the role of Matt LeBlanc’s wife on the CBS series “Man With a Plan” during the latest episode of her “Office Ladies” podcast.

"I got hired, I shot the pilot," Fischer recalled to co-host Angela Kinsey. "While I was there, the network said they wanted more scenes with me. I was like, 'I am nailing it!' More scenes means you're doing a good job. Well, I guess after we finished it, they showed it to focus groups."
Apparently, they found it hard to see Fischer beyond her role on “The Office.”

"They said — this is a literal quote, they said, 'I don't believe Pam would marry Joey. The chemistry doesn't work between these two,'" the 47-year-old actress added. "That was the feedback they got."
"They could only see you as Pam and Joey [from "Friends"]?" Kinsey asked.
"Yeah," Fischer responded. "So it wasn't working for them that we got married and had a family.”
The role wound up being recast with Liza Snyder, who co-starred with LeBlanc on the series from 2016 to 2020.
The former “Friends” star previously disclosed that the decision to not move forward with Fischer was not his.
"Jenna's a good actor. She did a good job," LeBlanc told EW in 2016. "The network felt like the chemistry wasn't right between her and me, and that decision was above my pay grade."
While the role was not meant to be, Jim and Pam forever!
