The Taylor Sheridan series was awarded the 2022 ACM Film Award and spotlighted with a musical performance by Country star, Lainey Wilson, who is also the series’ newest cast member.
Wilson took the stage to perform, “Workin’ Overtime,” a song that was featured in the show’s second season. Now, as the show readies to debut its 5th season in November, Lainey is celebrating being part of the cast with a role Sheridan created especially for her.
“I am representing Yellowstone and it’s just – I’m getting to perform the very first song of mine that ever made it onto Yellowstone,” Wilson said on stage. “I’ll never forget just thinking ‘how cool is it that I get a song in this hit TV show, Yellowstone.”
She continued, “Next thing you know, a couple of years later, I am going to be in the show. It’s just weird! I’m honored and I’m humbled and I’m so glad that I get to honor Yellowstone.”

Lainey will play a Country musician named Abby on the show, which premieres its 5th season on November 13.
“He [creator, Taylor Sheridan] called me in February and said, ‘I want to create a roll specifically for you.’ And I’m like, ‘Are you sure you want to do that?’’ Lainey laughed while explaining to Audacy’s Katie Neal how the opportunity came about.
The role will be Wilson’s first major acting debut and she couldn’t be more excited to step outside of her comfort zone. “I love doing things that are scary, I love stepping outside of my comfort zone and I think it’s going to be great,” Lainey shared.
See Lainey make her acting debut in the series’ 5th season, debuting November 13 on Paramount and Paramount+.
