Binnington racks up another 'Rookie of the Month' award from NHL

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The National Hockey League (NHL) announced today that Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington has been named “Rookie of the Month” for March.  Binnington, who went 6-3-0 with a 2.37 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage for the month, has become just the second goaltender to earn the honor in consecutive months since 2006-07.

Binnington, 25, allowed three or fewer goals in eight of his nine appearances in March, vaulting the Blues (43-28-8, 94 points) to second place in the Central Division and their seventh playoff berth in the past eight seasons.  The Richmond Hill, Ontario, native has gone 22-5-1 since Jan. 7 (his first NHL start), sharing the League lead in wins since that point and pacing all goaltenders with a 1.78 goals-against average (min. 20 appearances).  He collected his 20th career victory in just his 25th career start (March 23 vs. TBL), joining Ross BrooksAndrew HammondFrederik Andersenand Bill Durnan as the only goaltenders in NHL history to accumulate as many wins through their first 25 career starts.

Originally drafted by the Blues in the third round, 87th overall, of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Binnington joins Canucks center Elias Pettersson as a multiple Rookie of the Month winner in 2018-19.
