
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The National Hockey League (NHL) announced today that Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington has been named “Rookie of the Month” for March. Binnington, who went 6-3-0 with a 2.37 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage for the month, has become just the second goaltender to earn the honor in consecutive months since 2006-07.
Binnington, 25, allowed three or fewer goals in eight of his nine appearances in March, vaulting the Blues (43-28-8, 94 points) to second place in the Central Division and their seventh playoff berth in the past eight seasons. The Richmond Hill, Ontario, native has gone 22-5-1 since Jan. 7 (his first NHL start), sharing the League lead in wins since that point and pacing all goaltenders with a 1.78 goals-against average (min. 20 appearances). He collected his 20th career victory in just his 25th career start (March 23 vs. TBL), joining Ross Brooks, Andrew Hammond, Frederik Andersenand Bill Durnan as the only goaltenders in NHL history to accumulate as many wins through their first 25 career starts.
