February 11, 2019 Binnington, who was recently named ‘Second Star’ for the week ending Jan. 13, posted a 3-0-0 record last week, including a league-leading .954 save percentage and 1.31 goals-against average (min. three games played). He began the week by making 22 saves in a 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers. Next, he stopped all 32 shots he faced in a 1-0 overtime win, shutting out the league’s leading offensive team, the Tampa Bay Lightning. Binnington finished his week by making 29 stops in a 3-2 win over the division-rival Nashville Predators. Overall, the 25-year-old netminder is 9-1-1 and leads the league with a 1.72 goals-against average (min. 10 games played). He has become just the 31st goaltender in NHL history and the third in Blues history (Jake Allen, Brent Johnson) to record at least eight wins in his first 10 career starts. Binnington has helped backstop the Blues on their current six-game win streak which serves as the second-longest active streak in the league.
The Blues began their win streak on Jan. 23 in Anaheim when they sat in 13th place in the Western Conference. Today, they occupy the first Wild Card position with 59 points (27-22-5) while holding at least one game in hand on each team in the Western Conference.
