Charles Glenn shares his secret to performing knowing any Anthem could be his last

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - After 19 years with the St. Louis Blues, national anthem singer Charles Glenn has shared his secret to keeping calm, composed and not too emotional when performing at Enterprise Center.  He says he always sings the anthem like it will be his last time, "So if it is, I won't be disappointed."

Glenn is in his last year with the Blues, due to multiple sclerosis which he's been dealing with for the past eight years.

He says the only time he thinks about retiring as anthem singer is when he's at home.

"I don't think about it on the ice," he says, "because it's game time and we have things to do."

After 19 years he says the team, its owners and the fans have been incredible. He also told the Blues he has not ruled out the occasional appearance before games in upcoming seasons, but he's calling it quits as a full-time anthem singer.

He says he will shift focus to growing his annual charitable concert, Voices for the Cure. It helps put undiscovered musicians on stage at the Sheldon Concert Hall and raises money to find a cure for multiple sclerosis.
