ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis Blues have signed efenseman Carl Gunnarsson a two-year deal worth $3.5 million. He'll make $1.75 millon each year, the Blues announced on Thursday.
In a 10-year NHL career that has spanned 581 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Blues, Gunnarsson has posted 28 goals, 101 assists (129 points) and 157 penalty minutes.
The move means six of the Blues top seven defensemen from their Stanley Cup Championship team are coming back next season. The only outlier is Joel Edmundson, who is still under contract with the Blues and was given a qualifying offer.
Gunnarsson made $2.9 million per year last year on the final year of 3-year deal he signed with St. Louis in 2016.
That leaves the Blues with one major unrestricted free agent left unsigned, in St. Louis native Pat Maroon.
