This week Bill "Mr. Soccer" McDermott is joined by JP Dellacamera who is one of the pioneering voices of American soccer and serves as a FOX Sports play-by-play announcer for the FIFA World Cups, Major League Soccer and the U.S. Women’s National Team. JP discusses the 1999 Women’s World Cup win at the Rose Bowl, how David Beckham made the MLS a destination league for other players, and that he has been hoping for a St. Louis MLS franchise since the beginning of the league.
We’ll also visit with native St. Louisan Becky Sauerbrunn, an Olympic gold medalist and FIFA Women's World Cup champion. Becky discusses playing in Busch Stadium leading up to this year’s World Cup, she previews Team USA’s World Cup group stage opponents, and talks about how another World Cup victory could help all aspects of the sport.
This is "The First Eleven" podcast presented by Bud Light, game day’s favorite light lager and Famous Among Friends.
