ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Soccer fans in St. Louis hoping to soon win an MLS franchise might want to take a little advice from the voice of a current MLS team. Dwight Burgess, the broadcaster of Columbus Crew soccer since 1996 tells Bill "Mr. Soccer" McDermott a few tips to share with MLS4TheLou supporters:

“MLS being in this country for 20-plus years and not having a team in St. Louis doesn’t make sense. MLS definitely belongs in St. Louis," Burgess says. "Fans have a voice and need to be heard. Show the best of St. Louis and show MLS that it’s a mistake to not have a team there. This league will not be fully represented of this country without a team in St. Louis."

On this week's "The First Eleven" podcast, McDermott also is joined by president of the Los Angeles Galaxy and St. Louis native Chris Klein.

"St. Louis has positioned themselves to be the nexta city to get a club," Klein says. "It excites me being from there. It’s an important city for our league – looking at potential rivalries. Hopefully it will happen soon."

He also talks some Champions League results, the recent draw for the 2019 Gold Cup in June, which the United States will play Panama, Trinidad & Tobago and newcomers Guyana.

This is "The First Eleven" podcast presented by Bud Light, game day’s favorite light lager and Famous Among Friends.

Coming up on next week's podcast will be Mike Sorber, the assistant coach for Los Angeles FC and St. Louis native Lori Chalupny to talk about the U.S. Women's National Team.
