SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (KMOX/IIS) – Most people in Illinois could soon be able to get booze delivered with their groceries. Alcohol delivery is already available in some Illinois towns and cities, but it's an entirely local issue right now. State Senator Don Harmon's proposal would create statewide standards – it passed the Senate late last week but Harmon said a few tweaks are being negotiated.

"But they could not prohibit delivering outside their community, nor could they prohibit a resident in their community from receiving a delivery from outside the community."You can already get alcohol delivered in some places in Illinois, whether that's through a grocery delivery service like Instacart, Shipt, PrimeNow and others -- or through a less specialized delivery service like Postmates, Caviar or others. But those services are governed solely by local ordinances.Harmon said the work will continue in the House, lawmakers are scheduled to return to Springfield April 30.The bill is SB54.
