SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (KMOX) - Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker wants residents to see for themselves how their taxes woud be affected under his so-called "fair tax" proposal.
The plan features new tax rates based on how much you earn, he believes the current tax system is unfair to the middle class. Pritzker says his new online calculator lets you plug in your own numbers.
He says for those who earn "up to $250,000" will get tax relief, which he says will mean relief for "97 percent" of Illinois residents.
"In some cases this reduction will be very modest. And in some cases, especially for families with children, it will amount to hundreds of dollars," Pritzker says.
