Special prosecutor looks into alleged threats against Kim Gardner

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — It has been more than three months since a special prosecutor was appointed to investigate claims by St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner that members of Eric Greitens' defense team "threatened to ruin her" if she wouldn't drop the case against Greitens.

Sources told KMOX that former Boone County Judge Michael Bradley will finish up work as a special prosecutor in the case, and sources say it could be "soon."

Bradley was appointed in July to investigate claims that some of Greitens lawyers threatened to destroy Gardner's political career, if she kept up the invasion of privacy case against Greitens.

Gardner had sought the investigation, as her own team was under investigation by a different special prosecutor for alleged perjury during the Greitens case.

One member of her team was charged with perjury, and that case is ongoing.

Meanwhile, Gardner's longtime spokesperson Susan Ryan told KMOX Monday that she is no longer going to represent Gardner starting Friday, Nov. 1.

Ryan has served in that role for the office for 16 years. Ryan says she's leaving to concentrate on her PR firm, which represents prosecutors around the country.
