KAMPVILLE, Mo. (KMOX) - A flash flood warning has been issued for Kampville, Mo. and nearby areas of St. Charles and St. Peters, after a levee breach Monday morning. St. Charles officials say a handful of businesses will likely be affected, but it will mostly impact agrigultral lands and soccer fields.

The breach of the Elm Point levee is allowing water to pour on to the St. Louis Youth Soccer Association fields and the flood plain west of New Town. The water is also likely going to flood a nearby RV storage lot.

On Wheels Storage office manager Sarah Lewis says they're evacuating everybody from their storage facility and hoping to get the 700 vehicles stored there off the property.

Lewis says those with vehicles stored at On Wheels have 24 to 48 hours at most to move them.

Meanwhile, Lincoln County officials say The Mississippi River at Winfield crested yesterday at 36.61 feet – the fourth highest crest on record if it is confirmed.

Efforts to keep floodwaters at bay are continuing throughout much of the region this morning.

Those efforts include sandbagging near Winfield where some 100 homes in Winfield Acres and Foley have already flooded. Winfield-Foley assistant Chief Arron Lee says firefighters are pumping water out of East Winfield because the pipe that usually does that is leaking.

An all-hands on deck effort to protect Portage Des Sioux and West Alton paid off yesterday, as Rivers Pointe Fire Chief Rick Pender says West Alton is dry, as of Monday morning. The Missisisppi River is expected to crest in the area today.
