JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMOX) — How did students in your district stack up against the rest of Missouri in math, language arts and more in 2018?

There's a way to find out as the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education publishes results of last year's MAP testing.

State education commissioner Dr. Margie Vandeven says it's difficult to compare these results with past years because new standards were in place for the first time.

"These are Missouri tests, developed by Missourians, to measure expectations established by Missouri. We've administered four tests in the past five years as standards have changed. New tests in English Language Arts and Math in 2018 set a new completely baseline going forward."

That said, Vandeven pointed out that more students took part in advanced placement courses in 2018, and a greater number of them earned industry-recognized credentials.

"We are able to see some bright spots in the college-readiness, career-readiness, and high school-readiness measures. More students participated in advanced placement courses, and most scored a three or better in those AP exams."

She said more than 97-percent of Missouri districts and charter schools scored at least 70-percent of the possible points on their tests.
