ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The birthday messages are flooding in from the B.F.I.B on Monday, as St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Famer Mike Shannon turns 80 years old!

We have one special message from a former Cardinals teammate of Shannon's, that you can watch above, in current MLB chief baseball officer Joe Torre. The pair played together in St. Louis in 1969-70, before Shannon moved into the broadcast booth with KMOX.

Calling him by his well-known nickname "Moon Man," Torre first notes that he's only about a year younger than Shannon and is "in the process of catching up to you, pal."

"I love you, you've been a great teammate, but more importantly a great friend," Torre says. "So enjoy your day, enjoy your year, enjoy your life."

Here are some other messages of happy birthday for Shannon shared on social media, including one from our Tom Ackerman who is also celebrating a birthday today!

Happy 80th, Mike Shannon! Here’s a birthday pic we took in the booth together. Not only do we share this day... he’s a friend and someone I’ve been able to lean on through the years. You’re the best, Mike! #stlcards pic.twitter.com/JUZXqVH6vB
