ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — St. Louis may officially be in the driver's seat for a Major League Soccer team. MLS Commissioner Don Garber told the media at Wednesday's All-Star Game festivities that the league was in "advanced negotiations" with MLS4TheLou.

Here's Garbers comments on expansion on Fox Sports One:

MLS4TheLou officials, led by Carolyn Kindle Betz, made another presentation at the Board of Governors meeting yesterday, but no vote on expansion was taken.

Garber would not give a timeline for win a final decision would be made. Garber did tell other members of the media that St. Louis would likely start in the 2022 season if they are picked.

The St. Louis bid, led by mostly female ownership including Kindle Betz, is competing with Charlotte and Sacramento, along with other cities.
