ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - All lanes of Interstate-44 between between I-270 and Geyer Road will be closed for the weekend. MoDOT will close the interstate on Friday at 7 p.m. to set girders for the new westbound Watson Road bridge over I-44.
All interstate lanes reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, August 5.
During the interstate closure, drivers will still be able to get from I-44 to I-270 in both directions, as well as to eastbound Watson Road (Route 366). The detour for eastbound I-44 drivers will be to exit onto Watson Road, then make a left on Lindbergh Boulevard and continue back onto eastbound 44.
MoDOT also wants to warn drivers of a few more road and lane closures this weekend:
Drivers may want to avoid southbound Route 141 near the I-44 interchange this weekend, as crews will close two southbound lanes on the route for work on the bridges over the Meramec River and BNSF railroad. Lanes will close at 7 p.m. Friday August 2, and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, August 5. In addition, the flyover ramp to eastbound I-44 in this area will be closed from 5 a.m. Saturday, August 3 until 10 a.m. August 4.
Next week, daytime drivers heading to Illinois will want to avoid the Jefferson Barracks Bridge. Crews are replacing an expansion joint on the bridge and will have two eastbound lanes closed across the bridge. Crews will close two lanes starting at 5 a.m. Monday, August 5 through Thursday August 9. Lanes will reopen by 2 p.m. each day before evening rush.
