ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — For the first time in its 14-year tradition, the Musial Awards will be broadcast nationally on CBS.
The annual ceremony recognizes the most remarkable acts of sportsmanship and well-respected athletes. CBS will air it after the live event takes place Saturday, Nov. 23, at Stifel Theatre. It will also run at least twice on cable's CBS Sports Network, with times and dates to be announced.
“This is a wonderful milestone in the development and growth of what we call the most important awards in sports,” said Frank Viverito, president of the St. Louis Sports Commission, which produces the event. “It has long been our goal to impact the way people view and value sportsmanship. To now be able to tell our inspiring stories and showcase our honorees to a national audience is so meaningful to our efforts. We are grateful to CBS Sports for believing in this initiative and for showing so much enthusiasm for our program.”
This year's honorees will be announced in October. Past honorees include late golf legend Arnold Palmer, Olympian Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Baseball Hall of Famers Joe Torre, and many more.
Tickets for the 2019 Musial Awards go on sale Friday, Aug. 23 on Ticketmaster.
