ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — The NASA Earth Observatory recently revealed two images in a side-by-side comparison of flooding along the Mississippi River.

The Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service reported Thursday that it found 308 out of 313 river gauges across the nation were above flood stage. Additionally, while 32 river gauges in the U.S. were above major flood stage, 18 of them were within 200 miles of St. Louis.

The two images were taken on June 5, 2018 and May 7, 2019.

Several rainstorms over the last few weeks have left numerous Midwestern cities drenched and flooded. The Mississippi River crested at 41.33 feet in St. Louis May 6.
