ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Among those attending Monday's Stanley Cup Final game in St. Louis is a man who came from 4,300 miles away. Gerard flew here from Amsterdam to cheer on the St. Louis Blues

He clearly had a blast watching the Game 4 win on Monday night:

He says his love of the Blues began when he and a friend were playing the NHL 94 video game many years ago. When he had to pick a team he went with the Blues simply because of the "calm, nice Blue note."

#WeAllBleedBlue"We hebben allemaal blauw bloed"Thanks @Dutch_Bluesfan for these Dutch translations of @StLouisBlues phrases! https://t.co/kXjiglKI7c#StLBlues #StanleyCupFinal pic.twitter.com/18KDrTnm3i

Every year he would save money to come to St. Louis just in case the Blues made the Cup Final. Even this year, when they were in last place, he scrapped those plans so when they made it, his social media followers stepped up.

An anonymous donor gave him $1,500 on his GoFundMe page, another fan promised to double that if the Blues keep playing well. He met up with one man in St. Louis who kept his promise to give Gerard $200 if he made it to St. Louis and the Blues won Game 2. He was a man of his word:

Ladies and gentelemen, meet John (@johnmcd314). Before Game 2 he said he wanted to chip in 100 dollar to get me to STL and for game ticket. But if the Blues would win, he’d double up he said. Well, they won and here is John, who is a man of his word!! What a good guy!---- #stlblues pic.twitter.com/xw0DPl8VVW

Gerard says one woman gave him $400 for tickets after her young son died of a brain tumor and said he just had to "cheer as loud as him."

"So that gives you goosebumps," Gerard says. "I cannot explain my gratitude enough."

And he has made a promise of his own during his time in St. Louis. He says he will take all the extra money he has from this trip and donate it to a St. Louis charity:

The people of St. Louis, the #stlblues fans must be the most generous in the world. And I tell you something: If I have money left after this trip, I will donate it to a local St. Louis charity!! You have my word. YOU ARE THE BEST!! ------------------------
