MAPLEWOOD, Mo (KMOX) - Two boys, 11 and 14-years-old, are in custody for a Thursday evening robbery in Maplewood.
Police Lt. John LeClerc tells KMOX the two met the victim, a 41-year-old woman, at about 5:45 pm, as she approached her vehicle after leaving work in the 2600 block of South Hanley.
"They, by force, took her purse," LeClerc says. "It appears from video they attempted to take her vehicle as well. They were unsuccessful at that."
He says they then ran south towards Manchester and were arrested near the Metrolink station.
One was wearing a mask over their face with a skull design. Both are from south St. Louis. They are in custody of juvenile authorities. The victim was not seriously hurt.
"I've been a police officer for 15-years," Le Clerc says. "This is the youngest suspect as far as a strong-armed robbery is concerned."
