WINTER STORM WATCH: Snow, sleet could make Wednesday PM drive slick and messy

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The first of two waves of winter weather is expected to hit St. Louis on Tuesday night, followed by a potential of up to 6 inches of snow accumulation by Thursday morning. 

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from noon through midnight on Tuesday for parts of the St. Louis region, with some rain or drizzle early, mixing with, then going over to sleet and freezing rain late as temperatures fall to near 30 degrees.

Watch for icy conditions developing on untreated surfaces.

The second wave of winter weather is expected Wednesday afternoon and into the evening. Significant snowfall accumulations are possible, with up to 6 inches in the St. Louis area. 

Wednesday will begin cloudy and cold with drizzle or flurries in the morning, then steadier snow in the afternoon and tomorrow evening before tapering to flurries, according to AccuWeather's Dean DeVore.
