ST. CHARLES, MO (KMOX)-After spending weeks cooped up inside due to stay-at-home orders, many will be heading out to parks or trails to enjoy the spring weather. With that in mind, St. Charles County Public Health Director Cianci-Chapman is offering some suggestions for preventing the spread of coronavirus.

"While you're walking or running, maintain a distance of six feet," he says in a video posted to You Tube. "Warn the person you are passing in plenty of time so you both can move aside. If you need to take a break, move well of the path others are using."

Cianci-Chapman notes that a sneeze or cough can act like a mister, "If you run or walk by someone in close proximity, less than six feet, you still can be in danger of catching this virus. It could get in your eyes, nose or mouth if you run into it," he says.

"Social distancing," he says, "is not just a buzzword. It's a life saver."
