ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Wherever Eileen Flaherty was watching the final out of Lucas Giolito's gem on Tuesday night, was maybe louder than the empty stadium he finished off his first career no-hitter in.
The 26-year-old Chicago White Sox pitcher threw 101 pitches to 28 Pittsburgh Pirates batters and had just one blemish, a walk to leadoff man Erik Gonzalez in the top of the fourth inning. Although he missed out on the cheers of fans being there to see it, hopefully the reaction by St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jack Flaherty's mom will be a nice consolation.
Flaherty tweeted out the video of his mom cringing when the game's final batter hit a sharp line drive to right field, then her screaming celebration began when the ball was caught.
yeah mama flare loved it @LGio27 @JackandGradyMom pic.twitter.com/vXuJCMr6WM

August 26, 2020 So why was she so happy for him? Because Giolito went to the same high school as her son – Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles.
Their high school shared some love to Giolito on Twitter:

August 26, 2020 It gets even better. Also on their high school baseball team was current Atlanta Braves pitcher Max Fried. Talk about a stacked rotation this season with Giolito's no-hitter, Fried has the best ERA in all of baseball (1.32) and Flaherty has a sub-2.00 ERA as well.
Sure sucks not have had fans to witness a piece of baseball history, but thanks to Flaherty and "mama flare" for sharing the awesome reaction. Hopefully there are more videos like this out there.
