Cardinals players say Blues Stanley Cup energized them: 'Those guys are gods around STL now'

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - On June 12, when the St. Louis Blues won the 2019 Stanley Cup Champion, the St. Louis Cardinals had exactly a .500 record and were third in the NL Central Division. The rest of the way – after witnessing a city show complete adoration to the first-time champion Blues – the Cardinals were 20 games above .500 and made it to the National League Championship Series. 

Some Cardinals players say they really got some extra motivation from seeing what the Blues did.

"It was one of those things where being at home was exciting, you wanted to win for fans, you wanted to keep the vibe going throughout St. Louis," says Kolten Wong. 

Pitcher Andrew Millers says the Blues players are "gods around St. Louis, and deservedly so."
