Catholic Supply suspect might be responsible for 1980s Tennessee murder

(KMOX) — The man awaiting trial for the Catholic Supply attack is now under suspicion in a Tennessee murder decades ago.

Thomas Bruce is already charged with the sexual assault of three women and the shooting death of one at the Catholic Supply in Ballwin last year.

In the 1980s, Bruce went to a Tennessee avionics school where a 19-year-old female student was murdered.

Another man was already convicted and executed for that case.

But now the Innocence Project is asking a court to order DNA testing on a pair of men's underwear found near the woman's body.

Bruce has also been charged with a home invasion and attempted sexual assault of a 77-year-old woman in Jefferson County — two months before the Catholic Supply attack.

Bruce's jury trial for the Catholic Supply incident is set for Oct. 13, 2020.
