Child walking from Webster Groves school approached by man in white van

WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. (KMOX) — The Webster Groves School District is warning parents a man in a van may have tried to abduct a Bristol Elementary School student on Tuesday.

The district, in a statement posted to Facebook, says the white man with red hair and a tattoo near his right eye allegedly called out to a boy near the corner of South Maple and Cedar. He was driving a white van — possibly a Ford Econoline — with no windows in the back and damage to the front bumper.

The man reportedly knew the boy's name and home address and said his mother wanted him to take the boy home — but the boy ran away.

The school district is reminding parents to talk to their kids about stranger danger.
