ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The ownership group of St. Louis' coming Major League Soccer team is doing its best to keep the momentum going during this pandemic, with news that the official team name, colors and crest will be unveiled next month.

MLS4ThLou tells KMOX that on August 13 they'll "reveal it all to the city of St. Louis, virtually."

The announcement comes just days after MLS pushed back the timeline for the inaugural seasons of three of the four expansion clubs: St. Louis, Charlotte and Sacramento. St. Louis will begin play in 2023, not 2022 as originally planned.

And the big unveil in St. Louis will be much different than the club designed due to the pandemic. Instead of hosting hundreds of fans and community leaders, the team will be releasing the new team's name, colors and crest virtually.

But they've found a way to still pack fans into the room where the announcement will happen.

"We're selecting approximately 700 fans – or at least a cardboard cutout of them – to be in the room when we reveal our club name, crest and colors.," a statement from the club reads. "Fans can visit mls4thelou.com, fill out some general info and upload a photo of yourself."

Fans will also be able to tune into the livestreamed event and some will even get an official scarf featuring the club name and crest delivered right to their door.

Back in March, it seemed like the team name was coming sooner rather than later ...

This seems like the real deal.
