ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Over the weekend, some governors decried the lack of testing access needed to make it safe for people to go back to work. SLU Care general internist at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital Dr. Fred Buckhold agrees.
He says the availability of testing kits is woefully inadequate in the St. Louis area. Right now, he says we are seeing a 20% positive rate for those tested -- which he says means they need to test a lot more people.
But he says we cannot safely send people back to work until we have a better handle on who is sick and make them stay home.
Dr. Buckhold says we still don't know enough about asymptomatic transmission of the virus.
More testing would help address that big concern.
