'DANGEROUS HEAT': Highs approach 100s in St. Louis area this weekend

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Take precautions if you plan to be outside in the greater St. Louis area this weekend as temperatures are expected to rise into the 100s at times. 

Weather reports are calling for "dangerous heat" on both Saturday and Sunday, with the heat index predicted to reach 110 degrees in Union, 109 degree in St. Louis, 107 degrees in Columbia and 105 degrees in Carbondale.

The heat will come after a round of scattered showers and thunderstorms to the southwest of the St. Louis area on Friday afternoon.
