"With heavy hearts, we would like to report that the procession to move Trooper Nick Hopkins will begin at Noon from St. Louis. It is expected to arrive in Waterloo around 12:20 p.m. Once in Waterloo, the route is from Route 3, south on Moore Street, then east on Park Street, past Waterloo City Hall, then south on Market Street to end at Quernheim Funeral Home. We invite the community to line the streets and pay respects to our fallen hero."
Hopkins was shot and killed while trying to serve a search warrant in East St. Louis, Ill. early Friday morning.
Hopkins, 33, was a 10-year veteran of the ISP and was a native of Waterloo.
A suspect is charged with first-degree murder in connection to Hopkins' death. Christopher Grant, 45, of East St. Louis, is being held on a $5 million bond at the St. Clair County jail.
