ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - There are reports of a nationwide meat shortage – similar to what happened to the supply of toilet paper – that could spike in May. Dierbergs CEO Greg Dierberg says he's not worried about a shortage at his stores.
"Dierbergs has standing orders. You may see some hit and miss things, like you may not get that certain flavor or variety, but we're going to have as a general rule pretty full cases of meat," Dierberg says. "Not saying we're going to be perfect but I would not have great concern that we're going to run out of meat like we did toilet paper."
Dierberg says they are also doing everything they can to keep workers safe, from face masks and plexiglass to handwashing stations and sanitizing. He says the customers have been very kind during this time."Our customers have been so kind. You never know what someone is going through on the other end of the phone or the other end of the transaction, and they could have a sick relative," Dierberg says. "You just don't know. And so, we just first, lead with kindness, and that has been reciprocated in so many ways by our customers."
