5-year-old shot in Hazelwood; Police release info on person of interest

HAZELWOOD, Mo (KMOX) -  Police have released a photo of a person of interest for an incident that left a 5-year-old shot in the leg outside the Hazelwood Discount Cigarette & Tobacco store last week. 

The person of interest is Julius G. Gleghorn, 18, of Wentzville and he's facing charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

The incident happened on June 3 around 6 p.m., police say a black male who the victims knew approached their vehicle and began to fire gunshots at the vehicle. One adult male in the vehicle drove away with three juveniles inside and the suspect still firing shots, while another adult victim, a female, fleed the scene on foot, police say.

Police located the victims, including a 5-year-old male victim with a gunshot injury to his right leg. He was taken to the hospital and treated for a non-life-threatening injury. 

The suspect fled the scene in a silver vehicle, police say.
