ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Former KMOX and St. Louis Cardinals broadcaster Jack Buck will be the focus of MLB Networks' next installation of The Sounds of Baseball series on Monday night at 6 p.m. local time.

The one-hour program, which will re-air at 10:30 p.m., includes famous Buck calls from Bob Gibson’s no-hitter over the Pittsburgh Pirates on August 14, 1971 to multiple record-setting calls of Lou Brock’s: single-season stolen base record (#105) on September 10, 1974, career stolen base record (#893) on August 29, 1977 and his 3000th career hit on August 13, 1979.

Featured within the episode will be baseball media icons Bob Costas and Tom Verducci sharing anecdotes, personal stories, and their thoughts on the impact Buck had on the game and generations of fans.

Some of the other classic Jack Buck moments that the show will take a deeper look into include:

  • Ozzie Smith’s walk-off home run to win Game 5 of the 1985 NLCS between the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers with “Go crazy folks, go crazy!”
  • Vintage home run calls of Cardinals’ Hall of Famer Stan Musial, along with
  • Buck’s seldom-heard set up and home run call of the Dodgers’ Kirk Gibson to win Game 1 of the 1988 World Series.
  • Joe Buck’s call of the Cardinals’ David Freese walk-off home run to win Game 6 of the 2011 World Series, which mirrored his father’s call of “And we’ll see you tomorrow night,” will also be highlighted.
  • Joe Buck’s Ford C. Frick Award speech and poignant moments from Joe Buck’s Busch Stadium tribute following his father’s passing, will also be part of the program.

The Sounds of Baseball series launched on June, 8 2020, with 1982 Dodgers’ Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully featured first, and future episodes will be announced at a later date. Since MLB Network’s launch in 2009, Costas and Verducci also co-hosted MLB Network’s original series, MLB’s 20 Greatest Games in 2011, which ranked the best 20 games of the last 50 years.
