Police Chief Chris DiGiuseppi said the fires were first reported between 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., and somebody must've seen something.

"Well, I mean, you know, obviously, if they saw somebody who was intentionally lighting fires, we want them to call that in. But also if they had a vehicle that was traveling down the roadway that was dragging something, creating sparks," DiGiuseppi said.

The chief says the puzzling part of the fires is they caught on opposite sides of the interstate, and were spread out from Lake Saint Louis to O'Fallon and Wentzville.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lake Saint Louis Police at (636) 625-8018.
