ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Cardinals pitcher Jack Flaherty expressed frustration of having conversations with no changes being made after the latest police shooting of a black man in Wisconsin and said MLB needed to be unified league-wide if they were to postpone games Thursday.

"People don't want to face the reality of the situation going on," he said before Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader.

When asked about the power of professional sports teams not playing games, Jack said "to bring about discussion. Sitting out isn't going to make the change for tomorrow or for the next day, but at least it forces people to face reality and not use them playing as a distraction."

why is it so hard to do something unified for 1 dayjust 1 day

The Cardinals ace also tweeted in capital letters: "WE ARE THE ONLY SPORT PLAYING TODAY. LET THAT SINK IN" but has since deleted the tweet.

Flaherty said there has been talk of players donating game checks and there will be other actions. He added that it was weird for him to speak on the topic because he is mixed and hasn't personally been through the same hardships that people with darker skin have been through.
