NEAR HAMEL, Ill. (KMOX) -- Interstate 55 near Route 143 in the Metro East was shut down in both directions for hours Wednesday as a four-vehicle crash injured two people, one seriously. Illinois State Police say a 31-year-old man from Lafayette, Louisiana driving a Freightliner truck with a trailer attached rear ended a Nissan Altima in the construction zone, setting off a chain reaction that also involved an SUV and another Freightliner.
