ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Missouri bars and restaurants can once again start selling pre-batched cocktails to go. An emergency rule has been filed saying restaurants can sell "retailer-packaged, alcoholic beverages" through at least May 15.
Mission Taco and other restaurants tried doing this as soon as their dining rooms closed to the public, but the state stopped that saying they could only sell liquor in its original packaging, meaning full bottles of tequila and rum. Mission Taco owner Adam Tilford says the new rule is a major relief.
"I did a happy dance in my office when no one was around," Tilford says. "Just overjoyed ... To have those additional sales right now is amazing for restaurants."
Tilford says there's one change they're really making under the new rule – tamper-proof tape on the lids.
You do need to buy food in order to get the booze. Margaritas-to-go starts on Wednesday, but they could soon offer more cocktails.
Mission has a 32-ounce margarita for $20 dollars or a gallon for $40.
