Ozzie Smith offers fix for Cardinals NLCS offense: Go back to the fundamentals

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis Cardinals aren't backed into a corner yet, but it's getting close. Before there's too much panic around St. Louis, take a listen to what Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith has to say about fixing the Cardinals offense.

Here are a few thoughts The Wizard had on the Cardinals going into Game 3 of the NLCS:

- Some of Cardinals Nation wanted Washington instead of the Los Angeles Dodgers, but they've learned to be careful what you wish for. The Nationals pitching has really carried them all year. The Cardinals have hit a bad stretch at the wrong time.- A comeback is not going to be easy, but we're going to get a chance to see what this team is made of. It’s a gut check. Smith says it’s just about going out there and doing what you’re capable of doing. If you don’t, you find can start booking your fishing trips.

Hopefully, they can see the ball a little bit better and be more disciplined at the plate in Game 3 and beyond.- Smith hopes the run production for Jack Flaherty is some semblance of what he got last time out – 10 runs in the first inning. If it does, we’re going to have ourselves a great series.
