PGA event coming to St. Louis next year

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The PGA is coming back to St. Louis and now we know where they'll be playing. KMOX's Dan Reardon reports, that the PGA Champions Tour will play at Norwood Hills Country Club next year.

Reardon says sources tell him Ascension Health will be the title sponsor. A date for the event has not yet been announced.

The nearly 100-year-old north St. Louis course has hosted the 1948 PGA Championship and two PGA tour events in the mid '70s. It has also hosted many amateur tournaments as well as LPGA events in the 1950s.

Last August, Bellerive County Club in St. Louis hosted the 100th PGA Championship which was a wildly popular event according to the pros who participated including Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas and the eventual champion, Brooks Koepka.

Some of the most popular players on the Champions Tour, which is formerly known as the Senior PGA Tour, include John Daly, Fred Couples and Bernhard Langer. Daly was a fan favorite at Bellerive and he spoke to KMOX about why he is such a big St. Louis Cardinals fan.

You've probably seen that crazy #STLCards jacket that @PGA_JohnDaly was wearing at the @PGAChampionship Dinner, well he gave another one just like it to @STLWizard https://t.co/DL2mijAVjW pic.twitter.com/BxZRjsYQlw
