Opera singer Grace Bumbry lived at 1703 Annie Malone Drive before going on to the Arthur Godfrey television program and then performances at Carnegie Hall, The White House, London's Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala and a career of international acclaim. In 2009, Bumbry received the Kennedy Center Honors for her contribution to the performing arts.
