Tonight's Military Appreciation Night 'stirs up a lot of emotions' at Busch Stadium

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — Tonight is military appreciation at Busch Stadium as the Cardinals open up a four-game weekend series with the Reds. In addition to special ballcaps available for fans, there will be a live link with members of two Missouri National Guard units, deployed in Qatar and Kuwait.

Technical Sergeant Amber Glass is with the Missouri Air National Guard, as is her husband.

"About this time last year, he was deployed to Kuwait and came home right about this time last year. And all of the memories are popping up on social media, reminding you of the time he came home this time last year," she tells KMOX's Maria Keena. "It stirs up a lot of emotions, you know? It's a difficult time being away from your family."

Glass feels that the St. Louis community provides so much support for her family, and has nothing but positive memories about prior Cardinals Military Appreciation Nights.

"I did get to see some families go through that experience. I still remember the picture so vividly of what they go through because it's such a cool experience and it's awesome that St. Louis does that!"

Fans who purchase a special theme ticket for tonight's Military Appreciation Night at Busch Stadium will receive an exclusive cap supporting their favorite branch of the military.  A portion of each ticket will be donated to USO Missouri.

First pitch is at 7:15 p.m. against the Cincinnati Reds, you can listen to KMOX's coverage of the game starting at 6:20 p.m.
