ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - In a brief conversation with St. Louis Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson, he tells KMOX firefighters were delayed getting to major fires in St. Louis on Monday night due to protesters. Some threw rocks and debris at firefighters while trying to put out flames.
There were a number of fires on Monday, but the largest was the 7-Eleven on 17th and Pine Streets and Jenkerson says they were for a time unable to get to the fire.

June 2, 2020 "The reason they were delayed was because they were being impeded by protesters that were all throughout the area," KMOX's Maria Keena reports.
While some firefighters were working to put out a fire at the Campbell House Museum on Locust and 15th Streets, rocks and other debris were thrown at the firefighters. Video of the incident could be seen on live video feeds and reports of the incident were heard over police scanners. The historic museum was built in 1851 and is in the middle of a $1.8 million expansion project, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
There are also reports of some gunfire in the area.
