St. Louis Police shoot, kill burglary suspect who charged officers

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A man is dead after shooting at St. Louis police officers and barricading himself inside a garage in south St. Louis on Friday. 

Maj. Eric Larson with St. Louis Metropolitan Police say the man was shot and killed by officers who were responding to a burglary incident in the 900 block of Bellerive Blvd., near Interstate 55 and Bates Avenue.

Police say when officers arrived the man ran into a garage down the street and started firing shots at officers. Police sent out a tweet to alert the area of a "firing shots out of the residence."

***ATTENTION***Anyone in the area of the 900 block of Bellerive need to shelter in place. Streets are blocked relative to a subject barricaded inside a residence. The subject is firing shots out of the residence so AVOID THE AREA.We will advise when the scene is safe.

The man who was killed is identified by police as an adult Hispanic male. 

Police reported no other injuries in the incident.
